Birthday

Oh Happy Day!

I’m sure I’m late to the game… but I’m in LOVE with ink smooshing! This is my second card in a row using this technique. I’ve done it a few in the past, And somehow I forgot how easy it is to get this organic look. (Be sure to checkout the offered discount for drivebycrafts.com at the bottom of this blog!)

I chose three bright Distress Oxide colors to use. (I made sure to include Twisted Citron as a tribute to my favorite YouTuber Laura Bassen. If you haven’t watched her videos before, do it soon! She’s sooooo much fun to watch.) I cut 2 5.5×4.25 panels of Bristol Smooth paper. I rubbed my ink pad, one color at a time, on my craft mat and spritzed water. I picked up the ink with an acetate sheet (any non porous bendable plastic would work) and started smooshing ink onto the paper.

I used Concord and 9th’s Enjoy It All stamp set for the sentiment. I stamped Enjoy It All with black onyx Versafine ink, then heat embossed with clear Ranger embossing powder. After I decided on the size for the cardfront, I die cut using the largest wonky frame from My Favorite Things.  I stamped It’s Your Day on Black cardstock with versamark ink, and heat embossed with white Avery Elle embossing powder. I trimmed to size and attached to card front. I prepped a white cardbase and added the cardfront. A few sequins were added for some extra shine.

I recommend trying this technique out. It’s easy, fun, and very little embellishments are needed.
