It feels good being back in my craft room. I took nearly a month off. After helping my dad heal from surgery, I now have some free time again. But only a little free time… I now have a teething 8 month old daughter who is at the peak of her pain. Poor thing. So between her, dad, and everyday life, I have been able to set a couple hours aside every other night to get projects done. I have decided to get a jump on Valentine cards this week. I have many friends who will be needing them next month. I had two different products I wanted to use: Simon Says Stamp Kristina’s Love stamp and die set, and this month’s Simon Says Stamp card kit. The kit was full of goodies- pattern papers, shimmery envelopes, glitter, puffy stickers, shimmer ink, and Really Like You stamp set. I’ve been doing a lot of stamping lately, so it was refreshing to work with pattern paper. I have 4 cards to share with you. My focus in this blog is how I used the Kristina’s love die set.

Inside the monthly kit was A bottle of Tim Holtz Vintage Platinum Distress Glitter dust. It’s so pretty. I’ve never used the product, and I had a feeling I was going to make a mess, but I have Swiffer sheets and Dyson nearby, so I decided to open the bottle up and get to work.

I wanted to use the glitter to bring a lot of focus to the word love in the die set. There’s two to the set. A “shadow” and a word. I took a 6×6 sheet of Scor Tape and stuck it to the front of Kraft cardstock. I cut the shadow out 9 times for 9 embellishments. I took the front paper of the adhesive off, and on a creased computer printer paper, I poured the glitter all over the tops. I closed the paper(to keep my hands from getting too glittery) and really patted down the glitter into the adhesive. When I felt I did it long enough, I poured the rest of the glitter back into the bottle, and the the used my thumbs to rub off the excess glitter.

Next, I chose 3 colors of cardstock: pink, red, and black to die cut the word. Each color I cut out 9 times. I had decided to stack each word three times. It was a tedious project, and this alone took one evening to do. I used Ranger Multi Media Matte for my adhesive. Once the glue was dry, I attached the word to the glittery shadow, and set an acrylic block on top for some weight while it dried. For a finishing touch, I put Nuvo Glaze all over the word to add shine. I set them aside Overnight for them to dry. The process took awhile, and stacking the thin word was time consuming, but the finished product made me so happy!! I couldn’t wait to make cards.

To finish these cards off, I used Delicata shimmer ink cubes to color Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb cardstock. It moved like butter over the paper. I was super impressed. I heat set a few phrase to finish up the sentiment, cropped the card fronts with My Favorite Things rectangle frames, and mounted onto white Bazzill card bases. I die cut black hearts from my Lawn Fawn hearts border die, attached to card fronts, and used a little more Nuvo Crystal Glaze for shine.

I think these cards turned out so charming. Though a lot of time was put into them, they have a simple look I was wanting. I have three more Pink Love words to use, but I have set them aside to use later. I will post another blog that is focused on my Simon Says Stamp monthly kit cards.
