Birthday

Avery Elle Sea-Prise!

Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a cute set of birthday cards to share. If you’re like me, you are always in need of a fun birthday card. It seems like every couple weeks I’m sending a card out to a loved one. So this week I’ve used Avery Elle’s Sea-Prise Stamp Set to help refill my birthday card stash. Here’s two examples of how I used these stamps:

I first started off with 6 panels of watercolor paper, cut to 4.5×6. On my craft mat, I smooshed down hues of blues to make ocean water, using Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks, as well as Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers. I sprayed the ink with a little bit of water, then started smooshing my paper into the ink. (For this procedure, I highly recommend wearing gloves so you don’t dye your fingers blue like I did… oops!)

I did this several times for each panel until I got the color and texture that I liked. I set the papers aside to thoroughly dry, and started stamping the sea characters. I colored the shark and blowfish with Copic Markers, and cut them out. I stamped enough to make 6 cards. After my watercolor papers were dry, I started cutting out waves using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Wave Borders Die Set. I started die-cutting from the bottom up, paper-piecing different colors together.

I was able to make four 4.25×5.5 panels. I trimmed them down, then die cut a circle for each card. I adhered the first cardfront onto an A2 size top-folding card base, stamped the sentiment in the window, and attached the puffer fish to the card front with Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Foam Squares. I then applied drops of Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops.

For the second card example, I made a horizontal card with the shark. I added a piece of Nuvo Glitter Cardstock behind the circle window. I popped up the panel with foam tape, and had the shark peaking out of the window, and added the cardfront to the cardbase. for the birthday greeting, I stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock with Nuvo Embossing Ink, and heat embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder. I added foam squares to the back, and attached the sentiment under the shark. I finished the cardfront off with Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops.

With left over scraps, I was able to make a couple more cards:ED2F7D9A-19A7-40C4-9A52-70732BF40B86

For this card, I used Lawn Fawn’s Fancy Folded Banners Die  for the sentiment, and Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Square Frame for the shark frame.

for this card, I used Avery Elle’s Circle Frames Die to cut out the shaker windows. I used Pretty Pink Posh clear confetti in the shaker windows.

I think these birthday cards are so adorable. I did put in a bit of time and labor, but the end result was well worth it. Let me know what you think!
