Happy Monday everyone! I am so excited and honored to be part of this week’s Craftin Desert Divas August New Release week. I have a sweet card to share today using the Grateful Trolls stamp set.
One thing that is popular with fall is the beautiful colors we get to see everyday. I tried to incorporate that in every way I could. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so our fall isn’t as vibrant as other parts of the states. But we know when it’s here. The air is brisk, the days get shorter, and the pumpkin farms open up. We have an ample supply of genuine pumpkin farms all over this region. I decided to use the adorable girl troll, and her buddy the Scarecrow, (who is visible at all the pumpkin farms I visit here) to be the focus of this card. And how else to show off vibrant fall colors than with shiny sequins. I used the Craftin Desert Divas Fall Harvest and Shimmer Sequin Mixes to help with my color choices. First off was to color the images. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with Copic Markers:
- Girl: hair- E43, E71, E77, E49. Skin- E04, E11, E21, YR20 Cheek & nose- R20 Dress- G00, BG23, BG49, BG15, RV13, R37
- Scarecrow: Coat- BG34 G00, G000, Lapel- 71, E77 Hat- YR02, YR68, Cheeks- RV13, RV37 Face- E71, E43, E31 Crow, C, C5, C7, !00, Y17 Straw and Patches- YR31, YR23
After coloring, I re-stamped the images with Versafine Black Onyx ink, and cut them out. Next, it was time to assemble the shaker card. I picked out neutral colors to make the window frame. I cut a white rectangle, then a smaller dark brown rectangle for contrast. I used a piece of heat-resistant acetate to heat-emboss the sentiment, using Versamark ink and Nuvo Glacier White embossing powder. I assembled the shaker card, using the heat-embossed acetate to close the open window, and foam tape to give the sequins room to move. I added the sequins, then used another piece of acetate to close the back.
For the background. I chose 3 colors from the new Distress Oxide release: Mowed Lawn, Ripe Persimmon, and Tumbled Glass. Using Purple Tape to hold my cardstock down, I ink-blended the colors together to make a quick rainbow, then sprayed the cardstock with Sparke Shimmer Spray for extra shine.
I attached the back to the shaker card with Scor Tape, then added the card-front to an A2 sized cardbase. For the final touch, I used Scrapbook Adhesive Foam Squares to adhere the girl and her scarecrow.
Thanks for stopping by today! I will be back on Saturday, August 18, joining the Craftin Desert Divas Design Team Blog Hop. Be sure to come back and check out all the inspiration from everyone.
