Pretty Pink Posh Crocus Flowers

I recently had the opportunity to host a Pretty Pink Posh class at our local rubber stamp store, Impress Cards and Crafts. It was a fun Sunday spent with crafty friends. I put together three projects for the class, including this card made with the gorgeous Crocus Flowers stamp set and coordinating dies.

Let’s talk about these flowers. I love the size of all the petals! There’s so much room to add texture and shading. I have done a lot of alcohol marker practice on these flowers.  for this card though I did something different. One of my favorite ways to add color to a card is with Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I have made many cards featuring shimmer powders. And I will continue to make more because I just love the outcome every time. Such a small amount of powder goes a long way. I stamped the flowers with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder onto Canson XL watercolor paper. Then I taped the watercolor paper to a clipboard with purple tape. I sprayed the paper with water, then gently tapped four colors onto the flowers: Violet Brocade, Cherry Bomb, Blue Blitz, and Atlantis Burst. I sprayed the paper again to move the pigments. I repeated the process for the leaves stamps, using green Parade and Solar Flare shimmer powders.

After the paper was dry, I die-cut the flowers and started making the card front. I cut a piece of white card stock to 4 x 5.25. I die-cut a Scallop Heart window, then stamped a sentiment from the Simple Sayings: Courage stamp set. I die-cut another heart out of pink card stock. I flipped the card front over, fit the pink heart into the window, and used Scor Tape to keep the heart in place.

I blended Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink on an A2 card base before attaching the card front with foam adhesive. I used foam squares to adhere the flower bouquet. My final touch was adding a few jewels from the Sugar Plum Jewel Mix.
