Autumn/Thanksgiving Thank You Thinking Of You

The Greetery Get Cozy, Get Crafty August Release Reveal: Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 Reveal of The Greetery’s August release. We’re halfway through… Do you have any favorites picked out for Friday’s release? I would love to hear what’s on your shopping list so far!

This is a longer blog today… I’ve been so excited to share the process-making for my cards today, especially with the new stencils.

These lovely stems come from the new Budding Beauties: Autumn stamp set. I stamped out a dozen of these stems quickly, using my MISTI. And I can say the same with the Bottled Up bottles. I experimented with colors, and found several combinations that will match each season of the year. The Bottled Up stamp set comes with a label stamp, as well as several different words and flowers to dress the label up with. (They even match the curve of the bottles! LOVE!) The Budding Beauties-Autumn stamp set also come with words for the labels, which I used for this card. So I’m thinking we might be seeing a series being started here… and I love it! I added the rope accessory to each bottle before attaching them to a background I made with Fossilized Amber and Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide inks. I added the panel to a card base with foam adhesive for a bit more dimension.

This next card was so fun to put together. I used stems from the Budding Beauties- Autumn to fill the Just Mason Around jar, and attached a greeting from the new Sentiment Suite: Thanks stamp set. Before attaching everything onto the card base, I used one of the two new Mason Jar Filler Stencils to make the background.

I am so obsessed with stencils! And these stencils are layered, so a lot of dimension can be easily added. I have played around with pigment, dye, and oxide inks with stencils, and have always loved the results, but this time I tried something new.

I recently picked up a small set of watercolor pencils. I didn’t know what I was going to do with them at the time, but they were 60% off, so I had to have them, right?? Well, now I am so thankful I bought them. With the sharp tips of the pencils, I was able to shade with stencils, something I had never done before. And believe me, I love to shade, so this made my day!

On Bee Company watercolor paper, I used the darkest tone pencil to outline the bottom of each branch in the above picture. I followed with a lighter tone in the middle. I did the same with the leaves. I was able to give this Mason Jar Filler several different colors of leaves because I used pencils. Once I finished coloring with the pencils, I went over the stencils softly with Antique Linen Distress ink to know where the leaves and branches lines were at. Antique linen is water reactive, so I knew I would be able to use water to blend out the harsh stenciled lines. Once I removed the stencils, I used a #4 round water color brush and water to blend the pigments together, and smooth the stenciled lines out. I let the panels dry, then blended Distress Oxide inks over the dry branches (the pigments didn’t move or smear!). I splattered water droplets and brown ink onto the panels for more contrast, then attached everything together to finish the card.
