Thinking Of You

MFT September Birthday Project

It’s time for the September MFT Birthday Project Challenge, and this month is all about our pets:

Our pets are part of the family and deserve to be represented in our birthday greetings. Whether sending birthday wishes from yourself and your furry friends, or to a recipient that is an ardent pet lover, adding a doting dog or caring cat conveys an undeniable friendship. This month, add a cat, a dog, or any mix of the two (and remember, putting party hats on them ups the charm instantly!)

I included my gray cat Smokey into my card for today. I used images from several stamp sets: the cat is from Purr-Fect, presents and ballon are from BB Sweet Birthday Wishes, and the hat is from Party Penguins. I stamped all of the images onto masking paper first, then fussy cut them out. Next, I stamped the images onto a panel of white card stock, starting with the top layer, which was the small present and party hat. I covered the images with the masking paper, then moved on to stamp the rest of the scene. I masked off the floor, and blended Bubblegum ink onto the background. Once I finished building the scene, I took off the masks, and started Copic coloring.

To finish the card, I first stamped a birthday sentiment from Sweet Birthday Wishes Stamp Set. I used the Wonky Stitch Die-namics to trim the panel. My final step was attaching it to a kraft-colored card base with foam adhesive.

Now, it’s your turn! Be sure to head over to the MFT blog for more design team ideas and inspiration, then enter your pet birthday card. You will be eligible for the prize of $50 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. Thanks for stopping by!
