Newton’s Nook Designs: Deck The Halls With Inky Paws!

Today is the annual Newton’s Nook Designs Deck The Hall With Inky Paws Blog Hop! I am really excited to be joining a fabulous group of crafters, showcasing winter holiday card ideas. I have links to today’s designers, and information on a giveaway at the bottom of this blog. Let’s get started!

It was love at first sight when I saw Destination Christmas stamp set. I couldn’t wait to color this bus! I started by stamping the bus with Milk Chocolate ink onto white card stock. I covered the bus with a fussy-cut mask, and masked the horizon line with Purple Tape. I blended MFT Blue Breeze and After Midnight inks for the background, then removed the masks. I picked out Copic Markers I wanted to use, and started coloring.

After I colored the bus with markers, I added finer detail with colored pencils. Dark blue/Indigo is a great colored pencil to use for shadows. This is what I used to add detail on the red part of the bus, as well as the presents and tree. I used cool gray pencils to color the windows, and add shadows under the tires.

Copic Colors used: Red- R59, R29, R35; Cream- E04, E11, E51; Yellow- V93, YR23, Y23; Green- YG17, YG13, YG11; Blue Green- BG18, BG15, BG13; Grey- C09, C07, C05, C03.

Love the tree on top of that van – I remember my dad doing that when we picked out and cut down a tree – not so much these days does that happen with the artificial trees – used to give the tree an aspirin – not that it had a headache – just something we did back then I guess to make it last longer – and the pine smell was always delightful – your card has brought back memories

  15. This is so wonderful… I wish you did videos because I would love to watch your process. You do explain clearly but I am better at learning when I see things done. I love this bus and your coloring is so great. Wouldn’t it be fun to drive out into a tree farm and cut down a tree to put on top of a sweet bus like this. Christmas Magic! Nice job, sweet girl…
