Hi friends! I am back with another fun Colorado Craft Company Big and Bold card. This is the first one I have tackled with Copic Markers! can you believe that? I am so addicted to watercoloring these images, I decided to change things up, and try markers. I found myself up super early the other morning, so I decided to practice coloring while drinking my coffee. One thing that I am trying to get more comfortable with is no-line Copic coloring. Sometimes the images are easy, and sometimes they’re a challenge. This Colorado Craft Company BB Citrus Berry Cupcake was definitely a fun challenge.
I decided to color a chocolate blackberry cupcake, in honor of my husband, and his love for chocolate cake, and the blackberry bushes that were wild in the neighborhood we grew up in. I stamped the image onto X-Press It Blending Card with Ink On 3 Fadeout Ink. I used the following Copic Colors:
- Frosting: RV99, V06, V05, RV63, RV52, Colorless Blender
- Cake and liner: E49, E47, E44, E42, Colorless Blender
- Blackberry: BV29, V28, V25, BV00
- Lemon: Y28, Y15, Y13
I wanted to make frosting ribbons, so I really focussed on where I added the darkest colors, casting shadows for a no-line effect. I used Colorless Blender as my lightest color, which really helped me with the highlights. I also used my lightest marker to draw out my lines for the ribbons, helping me understand where I needed my shadows to be.
Oh, and that texture on the chocolate cake? Yep, Colorless Blender. Lots of dotting, let the paper dry, then dot again. I love doing that for cake.
I save the cupcake wrapper for last. In my head I knew what I wanted to do, but I just couldn’t do it on paper. Since the cake was chocolate, I stamped the cupcake again on another piece of blending card, this time with Milk Chocolate ink. I colored the wrapper with brown Copics, disguising the brown lines. Once finished, I fussy-cut the wrapper, then attached it to my colored panel.
To finish the card, I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set, and attached the panel to a card base.
This turned out to be a long coloring session. Thank goodness my little girl was at Nana’s, or I don’t think I would’ve been able to finish!

HOLY HOLY COW THAT IS AMAZING!!!! The icing is incredible. And the cupcake liner literally looks like it gold. How the heck could you do that?? Oh…what Browns did you use for the liner. I am really wanting to try no-line-coloring with Copics…and I think I will try it with this. One step at a time…
