The team is back today with another round of The Greetery’s Confections Collection, and there are some really special treats to show off today. I had a lot of fun creating, ESPECIALLY with the Curio: Confections Die. If you missed yesterday’s reveal, you can find it HERE.
A box of chocolates? Yes, please!! I mean seriously… how cute are these cookies and candies?? I had SO MUCH fun creating this project. I started with the Confections die. I die-cut white card stock, then used Distress Oxide inks and finger daubers to color them. I stuck with a pretty muted color palette: Speckled Egg, Tattered Rose, Victorian Velvet, Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso. I glued the pieces together, and used foam squares to attach them to the wrappers. I used the new Chocolate Crumble Mix, Heart Sprinkles, and Strawberry sprinkles to finish each candy.
I love how realistic these crumbles are. So realistic, I had to keep the containers up high so my 4 year old would keep her little fingers out of them. Ha! Once I had them done, I pulled out Curio: Divider & Details II die and die-cut three frames from white card stock. I inked them with Ground Espresso ink, and stacked and glued them together. I also die-cut several vintage-print pattern papers from Authentique paper packs found in my stash. I inked the edges of the pattern papers with oxide inks to age them a bit, then glued the frame and papers to a card base. I added the chocolates to finish the card. Because I’m not sure what sort of theme I want to use this card for, I left a sentiment off for now.
After adding the chocolates to the card, I saw how high the dimension was. Way too much for an envelope to handle. So either the card would have to be hand-delivered, or I was going to have to come up with a box. So I made a box. And why not make it a bakery box, right??
A little back story on creating this box… I was on day 2 of Covid. My brain was a fog. What would normally take me 20 minutes or so to make this box (I’ve made many of these) turned into a couple hours. I literally could not think. Looking back at how I just sat in my chair, staring at the card stock, I can giggle. I’ve never been so stuck before. my body hurt, and I wanted to lay down, but I also had an idea in my head I needed to figure out before I forgot it. Getting it from my brain to my desk was definitely a challenge.

I decorated the box with Frosted Frames Die, and Piped Sentiments: Sweet Die. I used acetate for the window, and added adhesive to the back of card stock before die-cutting the frame and words. I found this is the cleanest and easiest way to add die-cuts to acetate.
My second card features the fabulous new BotaniCuts Strawberries Die.
I am obsessed with strawberry prints! My daughter has had so many strawberry clothes, I just can’t resist them! and the same goes with this die set. In my world, it’s a must-have! They’re sooooo realistic. I die-cut white card stock, and again used Distress Oxide inks and finger daubers to color them. I used the following colors: Abandoned Coral, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany; Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness. The blossoms where colored with Copics Colors V93, Y11, Y00, and T1. I bent the flower petals a bit for texture. I glued the pieces together, following the included graph, and poped up the leaves with thin foam squares.
The sentiment is from the new All Kinds of Happy stamp set and coordinating dies. I die-cut Happy, and attached it to the black shadow. since I wanted a really bright card, I decided on making a slimline card. I die-cut a panel of white card stock with the large Crimped Slimline die, and glued the strawberries around the edges. I trimmed the sides, stamped the All Kinds Of Happy sentiment, and glued on the die-cut word.

Sorry to hear you’ve been fighting COVID. I can empathize with the brain fog. I have a brain injury and there are days I can’t think clearly enough to even sketch out an idea let alone start creating it. Fortunately other days are much better. 🙂 Love both your cards.
