Taylored Expressions June Release Sneak Peeks: Day 2

Be a Mermaid… what a fantastic stamp set. I love the designs on the tails. I used Copic Markers and TE Gold Embossing Powder for this card, and picked coordinating TE inks to make a matching background. I covered a panel of Sugar Cube card stock with the new Sweet Scallop Stencil, and blended the inks in a circle. I overlapped the colors to make a pretty rainbow. Once I was finished blending, I spread Nuvo Moonstone Glitter paste over the stencil. This really enhanced the colors of the inks.

To complete the card, I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set onto Sugar Cube card stock with Chocolate Truffle ink, then rubbed the edges with Versamark ink. I dipped the inked edges into gold embossing powder and heat set it. I added the tail and sentiment to the card front with thin foam squares, and popped the card front onto a Toffee card base with foam adhesive.

I used the other two Be A Mermaid design tails for my next card. I also colored these with Copic Markers, then gold heat-embossed them.

For the background, I blended Confetti Cake ink over the Sweet Scallop stencil, then splattered on Prima Stencil Mist-Dragonfly Blue, which has a gorgeous shimmer to it. For the distressed waves, I used the large wave stamp from Build A Background stamp set. I put the stamp and a piece of TE watercolor card stock into my MISTI, and used Tombow Dual Brush markers in teal colors to color the stamp. I sprayed the stamp with a mist of water, then stamped the paper. I did this a few times to get the look I wanted.

The Build A Background stamp set also has a sand strip. I used this stamp to add gold heat-embossed texture on the stenciled panel. I added a strip of gold foil card stock for some extra shine, stamped a sentiment, and then attached it all together.
